Getting IT?

Fancy finding out whether your iPod can come in any colour BUT green? Here you go: The Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics.

Now, how many trendy types in businesses are going to ditch their Bad Apple Macs? Come on, now... be honest.

What we really need now is a logo, too.

But seriously, at least a slap like this may perk 'em up a bit.

Minister calls for greener Government IT

Better late than never. They will publish their initial report in 2008.

Just hope they don't fancy Macs:)

  1. Whoopee-dooo!! Yet another government IT report!!

If all the money spent on IT reports within the UK government over the last 20 years hadn't been, we would probably have billions left over in the treasury coffers. (It would be trillions if we counted the wasted IT projects too!!)

They'll have a large team of assorted bods brought in especially to produce the report at vast cost, and it will probably not even get looked at.

The odd thing to me is this. Isn't it the job of every head of IT within government to monitor, assess and act on things like this anyway? Why a special team? Are the existing personnel not doing their jobs?

  2. Or they could have simply used an existing commercial assessment service such as this as launched by BT today. See Computing article.

I believe in freedom of speech. But I also don't like bullies on blogs, even verbal ones, as they can drive away those with something valid to say... or offer.

Subjective is fine, but well argued and substantiated is even better. Calm and polite tops. Anything that crosses my personal line will not go up. There may be reasons given, but not guaranteed.

I'm not too keen on 'Anon' as a handle (and the content usually explains why), so if that's what you opt for it may not make it. Sorry.
