Junkk.com promotes fun, reward-based e-practices, sharing oodles of info in objective, balanced ways. But we do have personal opinions, too! Hence this slightly ‘off of site, top of mind' blog by Junkk Male Peter. Hopefully still more ‘concerned mates’ than 'do this... or else' nannies, with critiques seen as constructive or of a more eyebrow-twitching ‘Oh, really?!' variety. Little that’s green can be viewed only in black and white.

Taking on the terminator?
"Arnold Schwarzenegger's address to the United Nations today about global climate change is one of the most blatant examples of hypocrisy that I've ever witnessed."
"This is greenwashing at its absolute worst!"
"There is no doubt that Schwarzenegger is the worst Governor in California history - and we've had some really bad ones - for fish, water and the environment, in spite of his shallow rhetoric proclaiming his 'leadership' in 'the fight against climate change on a world stage'."
Ooo errrr! I bet Arnie's quaking in his boots!

I believe in freedom of speech. But I also don't like bullies on blogs, even verbal ones, as they can drive away those with something valid to say... or offer.
Subjective is fine, but well argued and substantiated is even better. Calm and polite tops. Anything that crosses my personal line will not go up. There may be reasons given, but not guaranteed.
I'm not too keen on 'Anon' as a handle (and the content usually explains why), so if that's what you opt for it may not make it. Sorry.
Is it a warranted statement? The piece seems factual. The opinion a tad swayed by what seems a singular area of focus.
ReplyDeleteThis happens a lot in matters green these days. I'm preparing a piece on the Severn Barrage. On the one hand a techno marvel that will create (hopefully) tidal energy with no emmissions, and on the other no more diner for wading birds. Man vs. nature?
I think to be stuck with the 'H' label one needs to look a bit wider and more deeply.
Trouble is there is all the message vs. messenger thing. Restraint ain't exactly Arnie's bag, so I was very unsure of what one is to make of leaping out of a Lear into a hyrdogen powered... 8L Humvee by way of example.
A lot of his eco-initiatives do seem to be of the 'use technology to keep on doing what we're doing, and some', so I have some sympathy to the proposition I guess.
However, ending up with two extremes of eco-awareness knocking spots off each other does not sound promising.
As an issue... we'll be back.
ps: Grrrr. Those Google ads for Carbon trading are a pain! Now there's one selling stocks!
