Doom-mongering, or extremely prescient?

I came across this article in RIA Novosti considering the Kyoto protocol, and its potential outcomes, by chance, and it makes for quite interesting reading. The author is one Viktor Danilov-Danilyan, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Now some of you will undoubtedly dismiss his considerations as outright doom-mongery, others may regard them as quite plausible forecasts of just what could happen in the decades to come.

I'll leave you to make up your own mind. Me? I just hope his prescience does not turn out to be overtly accurate!

  1. Blimey, you roam far and wide!

Interesting that this is from senior bloke in a country not usually at teh forefront of climate-related pondering, especially when it comes to cutting back.

A new publication on me too. Nice they offer such a good English version.

I believe in freedom of speech. But I also don't like bullies on blogs, even verbal ones, as they can drive away those with something valid to say... or offer.

Subjective is fine, but well argued and substantiated is even better. Calm and polite tops. Anything that crosses my personal line will not go up. There may be reasons given, but not guaranteed.

I'm not too keen on 'Anon' as a handle (and the content usually explains why), so if that's what you opt for it may not make it. Sorry.
