A sign of the times perhaps? Or a bit of oddball religious CSR? The headline is taken from the Telegraph reporting on the Vatican's modern reassessment of the seven deadly sins.
Gone are sloth, envy, gluttony, greed, lust, wrath and pride; these are said to have a "rather individualistic dimension". (Strange, I always thought they were supposed to apply to the individual?) The new list includes "genetic modification, carrying out experiments on humans, polluting the environment, causing social injustice, causing poverty, becoming obscenely wealthy and taking drugs".
You have been warned - reuse or recycle your plastic bags - if not be prepared for eternal damnation!
Junkk.com promotes fun, reward-based e-practices, sharing oodles of info in objective, balanced ways. But we do have personal opinions, too! Hence this slightly ‘off of site, top of mind' blog by Junkk Male Peter. Hopefully still more ‘concerned mates’ than 'do this... or else' nannies, with critiques seen as constructive or of a more eyebrow-twitching ‘Oh, really?!' variety. Little that’s green can be viewed only in black and white.

I believe in freedom of speech. But I also don't like bullies on blogs, even verbal ones, as they can drive away those with something valid to say... or offer.
Subjective is fine, but well argued and substantiated is even better. Calm and polite tops. Anything that crosses my personal line will not go up. There may be reasons given, but not guaranteed.
I'm not too keen on 'Anon' as a handle (and the content usually explains why), so if that's what you opt for it may not make it. Sorry.
Of course, they are being a tad vague on the 're'-hierarchy, with 'reduction' being waaaay up there, along with 'refrain'.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how population control rates chez Ratzy and Cardinal Crew, but I'm guessing the numbers of 'us' there are might have an impact on how 'we' 'pollute'.
Also, I seem to recall on this blog that they seemed to have a rather unique view on use of airlines, along the lines of 'bad if others do it, but we're different'... somehow.
I rather think any edict from this merry crew can go in the same slot one reserves for HRH, all pols, the EU, Arnie, Al, most of Hollywood, a lot of the music luvvies...
In fact, is there going to be anyone left to atone for all that these holier than thou-sands don't seem to see applying to them, as such?
