These don't appear to be doing too well at the moment according to this from EDIE.
Just 15 new homes that meet the Gov's definition of zero-carbon have been built in the last 12 months, despite the backing of £15 Million of taxpayers money.
Hmmm, perhaps they need to think about redefining just what zero-carbon actually means?
Meanwhile, there are those (see this piece from AlterNet.org) who think that total decarbonisation is the only possible way forward. Sounds rather overtly radical to me, but what do I know?

Hence this slightly ‘off of site, top of mind' blog by Junkk Male Peter. Hopefully still more ‘concerned mates’ than 'do this... or else' nannies, with critiques seen as constructive or of a more eyebrow-twitching ‘Oh, really?!' variety. I believe in freedom of speech. But I also don't like bullies on blogs, even verbal ones, as they can drive away those with something valid to say... or offer.
Subjective is fine, but well argued and substantiated is even better. Calm and polite tops. Anything that crosses my personal line will not go up. There may be reasons given, but not guaranteed.
I'm not too keen on 'Anon' as a handle (and the content usually explains why), so if that's what you opt for it may not make it. Sorry.

ReplyDeleteHow's that break down? £100k for the actual home and £900k on the persons and procedures surrounding getting 'em built and the right boxes ticked?
Interesting enviROI. Plus of course there is the small matter of resale actual values.
But then if the same clowns running this show are also busy using our money to nationalise the lenders, it will be easy to esnure that the 'correct' value is the ticket price they set.
Shame no one is buying.
