I've mentioned this before; and it's brutal.
While there is a slightly more immediate concern about the sacrifice of nature to meet man's energy expectations, if you don't factor in population then it's all academic in a fairly predictable timeframe anyway.

It just goes to show what happens when a government provides ill thought out hefty subsidies to encourage the planting of crops for bio-fuels. Farmers will turn everything over to the new crops as it guarantees them a big pay day, and to hell with the consequences.
