Scrap old gas appliances says the Corgi trust
Recognising that the advocacy group might have a vested interest, it makes a heck of a lot more sense to me than paying a person £2k to by a new Beemer motor car.

Edie - The minister tasked with battling climate change has backed calls for the government to create a boiler scrappage scheme. - Maybe instead/in favour of car schemes and/or £6m 'awareness' campaigns in danger of being.. er.. scrapped due to falling foul of objectivity rules?

After all the negativity of the recent 'climate awareness' nonsense, we might point our talking heads in more productive directions for their money, emissions-wise?

There is an e-petition to this effect on the No. 10 site. Don't think that it is anything to do with Corgi though.
Given that, well, according to the Energy Savings Trust,
"if everyone in the UK with gas central heating installed a high efficiency condensing boiler, we would save enough energy to heat 3.4 million homes for a whole year and save around 13 million tonnes of Carbon Dioxide. The householder could also save around a third on their heating bills." I think it is well worthy of a supportive signature. Its certainly of more benefit to us all than giving people £2K towards a new motor!

Speaking as a tenant, I'd love a decent boiler, but my landlord isn't willing to pay any more than necessary. He has no incentive. In other words, he'll fork out a couple of hundred to "repair" an old(er), clapped out boiler, and we have to pay hundreds more to "heat" our permanently cold house.
Speaking also as a recent signer of many petitions - don't hold your breath.
(I'm a cynic now as well!)
